Cambodia Reopens Flights with Three ASEAN Countries

PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Health has announced the resumption of direct flights from Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines starting on Saturday, 23 October. The resumption follows the announcement of Prime Minister Hun Sen on Friday urging the ministries and institution to review the possibility of resuming flights with ASEAN countries. Some flights have been suspended for several months now due to the severity of Covid-19 cases.

Minister of Health, Mam Bunheng says, "This opening is to contribute to the reopening of economic and social activities step by step in all areas through the 'new normal' including the restoration of the air transport sector and cooperation in this field".

During a meeting at the Council of Ministers on Friday, Prime Minister Hun Sen introduced a gradual resumption of economic and social development in a new direction after the country recovered from Covid-19 to prepare for the opening of the border. He said that now is the time for Cambodia to solve long-term problems to restore the national economy.

The relaunching of flights from the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia will be added to the existing flights with China, Singapore and South Korea.
